Dear Friends,

While on this trip, via an unnamed airline, I was asked to pay extra if checked a bag, if I wanted an aisle seat, an exit seat, or a seat close to the front. I have been amused watching the airlines juggle the various fees and, quite frankly, surprised the flying public has been tolerant.

More recently, I flew Southwest Airlines. This is not a plug for them, simply giving credit where credit is due. The only ties I have there are a cousin (Capt. Jeff Harris-Hi!).

Since this would be a longer trip, I checked my bag. Alas, no charge! Later this same trip I incurred a departure delay and subsequently changed planes. All was done professionally, with good service, and with personal comments from the pilot who kept his passengers informed. Nice folks, good service, simple pricing, sound familiar?

At Burgers’ Smokehouse, we strive to offer great products, great prices, and great service. In addition, we don’t charge a bunch of extras. There’s no extra charge for normal delivery in the continental 48 states. You know exactly what you’re being charged. After all it’s your hard earned money. If you prefer to mail us your order, we still accept a good old paper check--no problem. The envelope included in your catalog is postage paid.

As for service, no one does it better. Yes, we offer online ordering and email for customer service. But the same folks who are managing this new technology are the ones you can pick up the phone and call.

Thanks for your time today and for being a loyal customer.

Sincerely,

Philip H. Burger Vice President
