Bake your lawn! (KS2)


Sustain’s Real Bread Campaign and charity Garden Organic are helping children discover how bread is made, from start to finish. They are offering schools organic wheat seeds to plant from February to early April in their Bake your Lawn initiative.

Make music (KS3-A level)


 BBC Proms want young people aged 12 to 18 to compose a piece of music no more than five minutes long. There are no restrictions on the type of instrumentation. Deadline 28 May 2012.

 The British Humanist Association’s 2012 James Hemming Essay Prize encourages students to think critically and creatively about a subject – this year a quote inspired by British philosopher AJ Ayer.

Visit Auschwitz (KS4)


The Holocaust Educational Trust’s Lessons from Auschwitz project offers a four-part course, including a day visit to Auschwitz-Birkenau, to two students from every school or college, to further their understanding of the Holocaust.
