WE’RE only just starting to catch up with those who’ve been tipping Brighton-based producer Maxxi Soundsystem who over the last couple of years has been steadily carving out his own groove in the nu-disco landscape.
His remix of Bonar Bradberry’s ‘Lip Therapy’ was one of the many highlights on the recent fifth instalment of the superb ‘Future Disco’ series (chosen and mixed by Sean Brosnan) but it’s his recent remix of Parallel Dance Ensemble’s ‘Shopping Cart’, our favourite track from
their album out on Permanent Vacation last year, which has been exploding on dancefloors around the world with it’s growling Hot Natured style bass, laser synths and story of gold- digging girlfriends.
Occupying the box firmly ticked as ‘hip’, his chart shows an equally knowing grasp of house and disco’s hottest labels, with Diynamic, Wolf + Lamb and Visionquest all represented, alongside Needwant (for whom he regularly releases) plus DJ Mag favourites Trunkfunk and Pets Recordings.
