Schools urged to doodle their bit for epilepsy charity S
chools across the country are being encouraged to put pen to paper as part of National Doodle Day. The event, on Friday 2 March, raises money for UK charity Epilepsy Action. Pupils and teachers will join celebrity scribblers including Wallace and Gromit creator Nick Park, David Cameron, Miranda Hart, Joanna Lumley and Rolf Harris by taking part in the event.
National Doodle Day, which is supported by diary designer Dodo-Pad, aims to get as many pupils and teachers doodling as possible to help support people with epilepsy. Schools can submit doodles into an annual National Doodle Day competition in exchange for a small donation. All schools entering the competition will have the chance to win up to £250 worth of vouchers to
spend on equipment for their school. Certificates will be awarded to all schools taking part. The winning school will have their work displayed in the doodle Hall of Fame on the National Doodle Day website.
Philippa Cartwright, fundraising events manager at Epilepsy Action, said: “Schools across the UK have helped us raised over £220,000 since the very first National Doodle Day in 2004. This money is vital in helping us to support the 600,000 people with epilepsy across the UK. National Doodle Day is a fantastic fun event and absolutely anyone can take part. Taking just five minutes out of your day to get creative really will make all the difference to people affected by epilepsy and their families. So please put your pen to paper and get doodling!”
