Dinosaur National Monument is the world’s largest quarry of Jurassic-Period dinosaur bones and has more than 2,000 exposed in its sandstone wall. Visitors can watch palaeontologists at work and see where dinosaur fossils are preserved. Vernal, known as ‘Dinosaurland’, serves as its western gateway and is also a principal gateway to Flaming Gorge National Recreation Area and the Uinta Mountains.
