fourth in the Ironman event the previous weekend. “I just had a bad day at the Ironman,” he said. “Something wasn’t there for me and didn’t click. I did- n’t have that intensity and was missing that. I just had to keep working hard and learn from that.” Grey said he has enjoyed wrestling for Blair and its long-time coach, Jeff Buxton.
“Coach Buxton teaches us great techniques,” Grey said. “He wants us to constantly wrestle hard and push the pace. We try to break guys in the third peri- od.
“It’s been a great experience to wrestle for Blair. I’ve learned a lot about wrestling and I’ve learned a lot as a person. If I had gone somewhere else, I wouldn’t be as good. It was the right choice. I’m so thankful I went there.”
Grey has benefited from competing in numerous
USA Wrestling tournaments. “USA Wrestling has all those great events,” he said.
“It’s awesome, and it allows the best kids to compete against each other. It’s been great for me.” Grey said he plans to try and make the U.S. Junior
World Team again this year. He plans to move up a weight class to 60 kg/132 lbs. Wrestling Cejudo this past summer gave Grey an idea of the level he hopes to be at someday. “My ultimate goal is to be an Olympic champion,” he said. “I’m going to do everything I can to get to that level. I am just going to keep working hard. I am going to try and win an NCAA title and then move on to the World level.”
