Academy conversions and PFI schools Under
A number of planned academy conversions were held up due to legal complications. The schools involved were built using private sector funding under PFI schemes. There were concerns arising
from
the ownership arrangements where
these had been
transferred to the PFI vehicle and whether the local authority would still be “maintaining” the school under the proposed arrangements which was prohibited under section 6(2) of the Academies Act 2010.
