We like to say that every day is Veteran’s Day in DAYTON, Ohio, the Birthplace of Aviation and so much more! Dayton is an extremely popular military reunion destination and our community is thrilled and proud to host veterans. Dayton is home to the world’s largest and oldest military aviation museum—the National Museum of the US Air Force. The museum is Ohio’s most visited, free tourist attraction with over 1.3 million annual visitors. Open seven days a week from 9am—5pm (and again, did we mention it is FREE?!) the National Museum is a guaranteed hit with military reunion groups from all branches of the service. In addition to three huge hangars with nearly 400 aircraft on display, a Presidential Plane annex, a missile gallery, a gift shop and an IMAX Theater, the museum features a lovely memorial garden and park which is perfect for military reunion ceremonies and dedications.

Dayton is affordable and accessible for your group. Located at the “Crossroads of America” (the intersection of I-70 E/W and I-75 N/S) over 50% of the US population is within a day’s drive. The Dayton International Airport offers service from

all the major carriers. Dayton boasts 70 hotels and nearly 7,000 hotel rooms, providing reunion planners with many options. Wonderful shopping, dining and sight-seeing choices abound. The Dayton Aviation Heritage National Historical Park, Carillon Historical Park (60 acre site featuring 27 historic buildings telling Dayton’s history and the many inventions—the airplane, the electric car starter, the cash register and more---that have come out of Dayton), the Dayton Art Institute, the 2nd Street Market, and RiverScape are just a few of the world- class attractions reunion groups enjoy.

The Dayton/Montgomery County Convention & Visitors Bureau is eager to work with you to make your event a smashing success! From reunion planning, to promotion, to implementation, the CVB staff is available (free of charge) to help save you time and money. Our professional staff has worked with hundreds of military reunion groups and we would love to share our knowledge and experience with your special group. Please contact us today to receive a proposal on hosting your next reunion in Dayton!
