HOSTING MOMENTS
Go Daddy Warns of .com Price Increase
In a recent email sent by domain registrar Go Daddy, company CEO Bob Parsons urged the web host’s customers to renew .com domains before a January fifteenth deadline.
Why? That’s when .com registry provider VeriSign is set to increase prices by seven percent on the popular TLD (Top level domain).
Verisign announced the price increase back in July.
Specifically, Verisign stated that the current .com price of $7.34 will increase to $7.85. Meanwhile, .net (also through Verisign) prices will experience a slight increase as well.
The .com registry provider works with ICANN (the International Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers) to make such moves possible. Price changes for the .com domain are nothing new as the company has initiated similar increases in the past.
