it was feared that the maintenance of the new entrance would prove to be an expensive and time-consuming challenge. But with iContact installed, the entrance can be monitored remotely 24/7 and if any operational or safety issues occur, the problem can often be remotely repaired without the need for an engineer visit. Comprehensive reports about the usage, footfall and efficiency of the door can be produced, so public buildings, such as Guilles Allès, can effectively asses their environmental impact. This high tech approach is in stark contrast to the traditionalist design of the original library. The redesign of the library’s lobby included the removal of an old-fashioned 1980’s timber and glazed screen, which had previously caused access issues. Bringing together old and new design, architects Create Limited designed a glass entrance lobby that would enhance the elegant design of the original building while allowing visitors to admire the whole reception area, unobstructed by lobby walls. GEZE worked with Salisbury Glass to create the contemporary glass porch with a bi- parting Slimdrive SL sliding door operator creating a seamless, spacious, welcoming and user-friendly entrance. Steve Marshall, GEZE UK’s service director commented: “iContact has revolutionised servicing and maintenance and its benefits are particularly apparent in Guernsey where there are no ADSA qualified engineers, which means it can take up to 24-hours for repairs to be carried out. “Our customers know that they have dedicated iContact service advisors who are constantly looking for ways to offer cost savings, improve efficiencies and most importantly addressing potential life-safety issues as they arise.” Enquiries to: GEZE UK,

as it delivers wins on several fronts,” says Climate Center Product Manager Barry Green. “It saves on landfill costs, reclaims useful materials, helps the environment locally – and provides funds to help support the great work of Water Aid. We are very excited to be getting the scheme off the ground.” Jason Crouch of Aspen Pumps said: “We are delighted to be working with Climate Center on the initiative. We are continually asked by installers where they can send back unused items like cables, tubes and reservoirs that are not required for a replacement installation. It makes sense both economically and environmentally to recycle them. “The scheme will also recycle the packaging from new units, so it is very much a ‘cradle to grave’ approach. It reflects and carries forward the sustainable policies and vision of both companies.” Condensate pumps are one of the hidden but essential components in many air conditioning and refrigeration systems. They are commonly used in popular split-type and multi-split air conditioning systems, as well as in refrigerated supermarket display cases, conveying condensate water away from the evaporator to be disposed of safely.
Martek Makes Its Mark On Exclusive London Hotel
Gothic architecture and offers its guests a world of grandeur and luxury. The new and improved hotel boasts an impressive 245 bedrooms, 2 prestigious bars and restaurants, Victorian tiled pool with spa and expert male grooming salon.
As a separate project, Martek also supplied and fitted bespoke shower rooms, bathrooms, separate toilets and en-suites in 66 residential apartments at the exclusive St Pancras Chambers, which is housed in the same building as the hotel.
Due to the extreme sensitivity of the original hotel structure, and to comply with its Grade I listed status, all internal construction needed to be independent of the original building. An independent pod was constructed in each of the guestrooms to house the bathroom and air conditioning unit, which also formed the backdrop to the king size bed.
Each of the hotel bathrooms is clad in Arabescato Faniello marble, hand selected from the Giacomo Bernacca quarry in Northern Italy and supplied by Richard Smythe, whilst the sanitary fittings were supplied from one of Europe’s leading bathroom companies, Ideal Standard. The exterior wall of the bathroom pods are clad in a variety of Zebrano veneered panels and solid oak cappings, whilst the bed heads are hand upholstered in Gabriel Comfort+ from Gabriel Fabrics in Belgium.

exciting project for us as all materials, design and construction had to be sympathetic to the Grade I listed status of the building. We are extremely happy with the result, especially as the project was completed on time and in budget.”
