y husband and I have returned in April 2011 back to the UK, after 21 years in Australia. There I worked in the comfort/specialist footwear industry, both my own retail shop
in Adelaide, and also as general manager for the largest specialist footwear company, Comfort & Fit, based in Sydney. We imported many top quality European brands, including Carl Semler. We favoured the sandals of course due to the climate, and enjoyed the range of lasts offering different width fittings. We always had to contend of course with opposite seasons, which was a challenge for ordering! Even with the higher price point after freight and import duties, Semler was always a top seller for us. Primarily because it fits, and looks fashionable. When we surveyed our customers prior to putting Semler into our shops, a sale was not lost due to cost… it was due to appearance!
I met my husband over in Australia, he is from
Sussex originally! He now works in the footwear business also, so we are a husband and wife team, myself and Karl Norman. When we realized that Carl Semler was not represented in the UK, we saw an opportunity to work with retail shops here who are looking to enhance what they currently offer.
