CFCS receives AmeriCorps Fellow

Cambridge Family & Children’s Service
was selected to receive an AmeriCorps member through the Massachusetts Promise Fellowship in 2011-2012. The Mentor Program at CFCS, which was selected through a competitive application process to host a Fellow, will use this opportunity to strengthen the existing programs through training development and capacity building. CFCS’ Mentoring Program is focused on at-risk youth and teens both in the community and within CFCS care and the Fellow will allow CFCS to create more mentor / mentee matches.

Realtor recognized for community service
The Greater Boston Association of REALTORS® (GBAR) recognized Louise Olson, Senior Associate at Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage on Huron Street with the 2011 GBAR Good Neighbor Award at their Annual Awards Dinner. Louise also received a $2,500 grant for an organization close to her heart, “Our Place” Daycare for Homeless Children, located at the Salvation Army. Olson, a Cambridge resident and Board member of the Cambridge Community of Realtors, has donated hundreds of hours and thou- sands of dollars to this organization.

ECSB elects new corporators
East Cambridge Savings
Bank’s Board of Trustees elected Thomas G. Burke, Nancy Mary Dilando, James K. Ferraro and Nelson P. Oliveira, corporators. Corporators elect individuals to serve as bank trustees and senior bank officers., approve major changes in the Bank’s charter or corporate structure, and represent the bank in the local community.

Revels celebrates winter solstice
In celebration of the winter solstice, the Christmas Revels returns to Harvard’s Sanders Theatre with shows from December 19 through 29. The Christmas Revels is filled with music and dance from England, France, Spain and the Middle East, plus comedy, rituals and carols. First winter farmers market to begin Cambridge’s first and only winter farmers market is coming to the Cambridge Community Center to offer freh fruits and vegetables all winter long. The market will run Saturdays starting January 7 until April 28, 2012. Market hours are from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The mar ket will also feature an art gallery, music, food demos, visits from the New England Aquarium, the Museum of Science, and other fun & educational activities.
