Burcote wind portfolio

WsP has been commissioned by Burcote Wind to undertake high-level feasibility assessments at a large number of potential wind farm sites in the UK. The feasibility studies involved the review of wind resource and potential yield, environmental constraints, geology and hydrogeology issues, constraints associated with military, radar and communications, grid capacity and connection options, and a review of potential transport and access constraints.

Based on the findings of these studies, Burcote Wind is progressing through the consenting process at ten of the sites, all located across scotland. WsP is undertaking EIA scoping Reports and Impact Assessments for all ten of these sites, consulting with the regulators, and carrying out early community consultation, including meeting with Community Councils and preparing for public exhibitions. WsP is also supporting with grid connection services.

structural civil and engineering services for HJ Banks

WsP has provided civil and structural engineering for the development of three wind turbines at a site in south Yorkshire. This has included turbine foundation design, access track design and associated infrastructure.

GlaxosmithKline in scotland

WsP conducted a technical feasibility study and environmental scoping for a proposed 5MW wind energy development at gsK’s Montrose manufacturing facility. The purpose was to identify the wind resource and potential yield, assess key technical and environmental constraints, identify on-site turbine positioning constraints, review relevant planning policy, and assess access constraints and options. We are completing a full EIA and co-ordinating planning inputs for this proposed development, and providing advice with respect to turbine selection (size, power rating and specific manufacturer).

permit applications and infrastructure planning for vattenfall AB

We have been advising Vattenfall Vindkraft AB on permit applications, EIAs, and the planning of infrastructure and electrical systems for a 20-40MW wind-power facility in sweden. The infrastructure planning includes geotechnical assessment, field studies and detailed planning of road networks. The planning of electrical networks includes the design of the internal cable network.
