Topher Gaylord’s lifelong dedication to the outdoors extends to both business and sport. The current Mountain Hardwear president is a two-decade veteran of the outdoor industry who’s worked for a variety of companies, including a long stint as president of VF Outdoor International (The North Face, Jansport). In addition to being a product innovator, Gaylord is also an elite ultrarunner with impressive finishes at top races around the world, including the Western States Endurance Run and Tour du Mt. Blanc. In the spring of 2010, Gaylord was hired to lead Mountain


Hardwear, a company started in 1993 by a small group of outdoor enthusiasts looking to create a new paradigm of technologically advanced gear. Gaylord discussed his vision to continue the mission.
