DHL GLOBAL Forwarding has opened five new branch offices

in China – in

Zhengzhou, Taiyuan, Wen- zhou, Xuzhou and Huizhou. DHL said that the new

offices would better meet the growing demand for interna- tional-quality logistics services it is seeing in western and cen- tral China. The freight

forwarding

operation of the logistics giant noted that the openings are “timely”, given the major geo- graphical shift of the country’s manufacturing capacity away from China’s coastal areas into central and western parts of the country.

“Looking beyond Beijing

and Shanghai and tapping into China’s existing infras- tructure in these inland markets enables us to make our multi-modal solutions that much more comprehen- sive,” observed Steve Huang, DHL Global Forwarding’s CEO, China. “The customers can now

not just opt for a combination of rail, road, sea and air trans- port with different transit times and costs but with dif- ferent origins and destinations in mind as per their needs too,” he added. DHL has also just opened a new Life Sciences and Health-

care Competence Center in Beijing, the second of its kind in the country. “The opening of this Life

Sciences and Healthcare Competence Center in China

is a clear testament to the growing demand and oppor- tunity we see in this sector and in Asia Pacific,” noted Roger Crook, CEO, DHL Global Forwarding, Freight.
