From the Campaign Cochairs It takes a village.

A cliché, perhaps, but the absolute truth. So much more is possible when a community pulls together and works toward a common goal. That’s just what we’ve experienced with the $300 million Campaign for Mount Holyoke.

Given the economic uncertainty of recent years, we understand that some alumnae have altered their philanthropic plans. But though some have scaled back their giving, others have increased their donations. Together, you have demonstrated your support of Mount Holyoke’s mission of using liberal learning for purposeful engagement in the world.

In fact, since the Campaign launched in 2001, more than 22,000 alums have made Campaign gifts. Donations have ranged in size from $5 to $10 million, totaling $223.1 million as of June 30.

This vote of confidence is evidenced in the success of the Trustee Five for Five Challenge: more than 2,000 new donors made gifts to the Annual Fund this year, triggering a $500,000 challenge gift from trustees and other volunteer leadership. During the challenge, we saw an 80 percent increase over last year in the number of gifts from young alumnae. As a result, the Annual Fund—a key part of the Campaign—exceeded its $8.1 million goal, with a total of $8.38 million.

So thank you for keeping Mount Holyoke a philanthropic priority.
