Welcome W
hile the global economy stubbornly refuses to stabilize, all that is green seems to be turning to gold. Global biofuels production is at an all-time high (see news), the aftermath of the Fukushima crisis has further strengthened interest in renewable energy, and the Carbon War Room’s announcement it has brokered the launch of the Pace Commercial Consortium (page 32) – a program that will unlock massive investment in buildings energy effi ciency and generation – shows the strength of the appetite to profi t from the low-carbon economy. Change isn’t coming – change is here, and with the UK government muscling its way to a position of world leadership in green solutions and emerging renewables technology, there couldn’t be a better time to meet like-minded investors at the War Room’s London Creating Climate Wealth Summit. As the Technology Strategy Board’s head of innovation Richard Miller explains on page 29, there is only so much governments can do to prepare emerging clean technologies for market before private capital takes over – and there has never been a better time to invest. The low-carbon economy is arriving. Is your door open?
