Spend a full day in Colonial Williamsburg and see the hallowed monuments of Washington, DC illuminated at night

The road to independence The colonists who made their way on strenuous ocean voyages from Europe to New England were, by their very nature, inherently independent minded, self-reliant and tough. And while they remained loyal subjects of the British Crown for decades, they liked doing things their way through their own governing assemblies. While centuries have past since the first Americans took a defiant stand in the name of independence, you can find icons of their spirit in the Liberty Bell in Philadelphia, on solemn Gettysburg battlefields, in Virginia’s Museum of the Marine Corps, in Colonial Williamsburg, historic Jamestown and our nation’s capitol. Listen carefully as you tread in these hallowed places for voices of the past that forever proudly define American freedoms.

2. CITY OF BROTHERLY LOVE Around every corner lies a piece of American history on a full day of sightseeing in Philadelphia. Tour Independence Hall, site of the signing of the Declaration of Independence; ride a horse-drawn carriage back in time along cobblestone streets; see the Liberty Bell; and visit the National Constitution Center, where you’ll view the multimedia presentation Freedom Rising.
