ival Boxing’s RB10 bag gloves are unique in the fight sports market in that they incorporate the d3o shock absorption system to provide maximum hand protection.
Rival says it is the only company in the fight sports arena to be using this technology, which has previously been seen in Head tennis rackets and Gunn & Moore cricket equipment, as well as motorcycle apparel, personal safety clothing, footwear and electronic device cases. The d3o patented material combines enhanced chemistry and engineering to produce a high- performing shock absorption system. The d3o material in its raw state flows freely when moved slowly, but on shock, locks together to absorb and disperse energy, before instantly returning to its flexible state. This unique characteristic provides enhanced protection, while providing a versatile and flexible material that can be manufactured for a host of impact protective applications.
Rival says the RB10-d3o bag glove has been developed to give boxers ‘ultimate hand protection’ and absorbs 40 per cent more energy than super bag gloves and 15 per cent more energy than gel bag gloves. In addition, an AirFlow Control system helps keep hands cool during training.
To prove its performance credentials, Rival has had the RB10 tested against comparable products from other brands, with the d3o material helping make the Rival glove not only the best performer in terms of shock absorption but also the lightest.
The RB10-d30 is its most expensive bag glove, but Rival has also deployed d3o in the RB50 bag gloves, RHG10 headguard, RPM10 punch mitts and RMX-B10 MMA glove, which it similarly claims is the first of its kind in the world to feature d3o.

Rival has even gone so far as to sign a two- year exclusivity deal for d3o, meaning it will be the only manufacturer able to offer the technology in its fight sport products for the time being.
Todor Minev, Rival Boxing & MMA Europe executive director, says: “The technology really does make a big difference. Lots of people love it as it really does work.
“I am a former boxer and have broken all the knuckles in my right hand, which means I can’t put the full power into my bag punches. When I tested these gloves I was able to deliver a punch at full power and didn’t feel a thing.

retail sales. As it has turned out, the RB10 has been the best-selling Rival glove since the company started.” The gloves have been available for most of 2011, although headguards have only recent arrived. “We sold 80 headguards on pre-order as people were so impressed with the gloves,” says Minev. “We had to wait a little longer for the headgear and people were calling everyday wanting to know what was happening. When they did come in, we had already sold most of them.”
