INDUSTRY NEWS John Deere Foundry Contracts for New Dust Collection Systems
Deere & Co. has taken another step in the modernization of its Waterloo, Iowa, metalcasting facility, contracting for the installation of three new dust collection systems. Included in the project is a 540,000-actual cu. ft. per minute multi-module air pollution control system designed to control emissions from the metalcasting facility’s new high performance mold line, return sand and shakeout area. Te second system will control the emissions from the blast finishing area and will require a 150,000-actual cu. ft. per minute multi-module system. Both of the systems will be enclosed in pre-engineered buildings. Te third system consists of a 30,000-actual cu. ft. per minute pulse jet collector designed to control emissions from magnesium treatment. The improvement is part of a

mouth, Ohio, has recently been awarded the President’s “Company Award” by the Ohio Cast Metals Association (OCMA), Columbus, Ohio. Te award is given to a metalcast-
ing facility whose representatives have made significant contribu- tions and demonstrated leadership through OCMA for the associa- tion’s members and the metalcasting industry as a whole. John Burke, Osco’s president,
is treasurer of OCMA, and Ryan Burke, accountant and environmental coordinator at Osco, is OCMA’s vice president for environmental affairs. Osco is a medium to high volume
gray iron sand casting company with three plant locations. Te company specializes in castings less than 50 lbs. and serves the air conditioning, refrig- eration, power transmission and sump pump markets, among others.

will be designed, fabricated and in- stalled by ETA Fabrication Inc., Avilla, Ind. ETA Engineering has been sup- plying dust collection systems to John Deere facilities since 1995.
