How to join and participate in a community


How to join a community


Communities are interactive online groups on myUniHub, usually relating to a particular aspect of life at Middlesex eg sports or careers and employability. Similar to Facebook groups, these communities give you the opportunity to engage with other Middlesex students and staff on issues of common interest in an informal way.


1. Login to myUniHub 2. Go to the My Communities page


3. Locate the Join Communities box within the Communities portlet


How to access a Community you have joined:


1. Locate the My Communities portlet


2. By clicking the Category names, navigate through the Categories folders to find the desired Community


3. Click the silhouetted heads icon to open the Community page.


4. If you know the name of the community you wish to join, type this into the Search box. If not, you will need to locate the community from within the Categories folders (clicking the category name will open the folder)


5. Highlight the Community which you wish to join


6. Navigate to the Community Welcome portlet. This will now display the welcome message for that community


7. Click ‘Join’


8. Read and accept the terms and conditions and click ‘Submit’


9. The Community will now appear within your My Communities portlet.


Interact within a Community: As a member of a Community, a number of tools will be delivered to you. Through these tools you can comment upon posts, and share content such as photos and videos with other members of that Community.
