COMIN’ UP
THE RETURN OF TODD TERRY
HE’S literally written more seminal house tunes under more monikers than we can possibly remember (though ‘Can You Party’, ‘Jumpin’’ and ‘Something Goin’ On’ are a few highlights off the top of our head), making New Yorker Todd Terry one of the most influential dance producers of all time – and that’s not even mentioning his Grammys or top three hit with his remix of Every But the Girl’s ‘Missing’. In short, he’s a legend who’s also coming to play in the UK at Proud2 on the 10th of September. With a DJ mix on the way, we picked up the phone to find out what the Todd has been up to in recent months and what we can expect over the rest of the year.
BENJI B’S CARNIVAL AFTERPARTIES
COVERING the entire spectrum of bass driven sonics, Benji B’s Radio 1 show and Deviation club night rep the best in underground sounds. So who better to give an overview of this year’s Notting Hill Carnival and organise not one, but two, huge afterparties taking place on Sunday and Monday in East and West respectively? With the likes of Wookie and EZ on the bill playing garage classics, Kode 9 digging out his jungle collection and Lil Silva spinning funky (check out his podcast for us this week), you know they’re going to be big!
