but until recently it didn’t offer much for your cholesterol level or body-mass index. Now, a growing number of congregations are hiring nurses to help inspire churchgoers to regard their physical bodies as gifts from their creator by eating better, exercising and managing chronic medical conditions.

Affordable Care Act will save time and money On the last day of June, the U.S.

Department of Health and Human Services took the first in a series of steps to implement the Affordable Care Act provision. The new operating rules will cut health care red tape and save an estimated $12 billion over the next 10 years. The savings come from improved use

of electronic standards that will help eliminate manual processes. This not only will save health care providers and health insurance companies money, but also allow physician offices to redirect time spent on administrative tasks to patient care. Consumers will benefit from more thorough information about their out-of-pocket costs and deductibles. The interim final rule requires compliance

by health plans, health care clearinghouses and certain health care providers by Jan. 1, 2013, and implements part of Section 1104 of the Affordable Care Act. —U.S. Department of Health and Human Services
