GONZALEZ

USA WOMEN’S NATIONAL TEAM

How did you get started playing field hockey? I started playing field hockey because my two older sisters played. When I was a freshman in high school, my mom encouraged me to attend preseason and it goes from there. I chose to go to UCONN because it was close to home and my family could come watch my games and because of their competitive athletics and academics.

What is one thing you can’t live without? Food and sleep.

What is the best advice a coach has given you? Do the simple things and have fun with it.

Where has field hockey taken you around the world? Argentina, Mexico, Spain, England.

What are your personal goals for the next five years? My personal goal is to work as hard as I can at whatever makes me happy. I hope to still be playing hockey and possibly a future student… again! I want to go back to school and get my masters degree.

What advice can you give to young athletes in the sport? The best advice I can give is to always work hard at achieving your goals, whatever they may be. Be persistent in whatever you do, and always do the simple things and have fun with it.

What do you do in your free time? I enjoy eating and sleeping far more than most people. I also like hanging out with my friends and family, watching tv, listening to good music and shopping.

What do you want to be when you grow up? Possibly a coach.
