CATCH PHOTOGRAPH RELEASE

JOHN AND ERIC SHANKS LAKE CHARLES, LOUISIANA

Young John brought in this black drum all by himself. “Of course it was too small, but he sure was proud of himself,” Kate said of her son’s Mother’s Day catch.

MIKE JONES LAKE X, ILLINOIS

Mike used a white Terminator T2 spinnerbait to fool this personal best 6.2-pound largemouth.

“Prespawn, although you can see by her bloody fins she’s been working on a nest,” he said.

SARA HAWORTH CLEAR LAKE, CALIFORNIA

Sara caught this chunk of a bass in a borrowed kayak in early spring. The next one will be in her new Tarpon 120. “Finally I have my own boat. I love kayaking,” Sara said.

JOHN GIBSON COXS LAKE, NOVA SCOTIA

John was fishing in high winds and couldn’t buy a bite. Then he paddled into a rocky cove with cover and changed his luck with this mule, his best, an 18-inch smallmouth.

RANDY VINING BRYAN RALSTON SOUTH MILLS, NORTH CAROLINA

Bryan was chucking a six-inch crankbait for bass when this beautiful striper intervened. “Something you would not think was in fresh water,” he said, happily suprised.

12 …KAYAK ANGLER SUMMER/FALL 2011

UNDISCLOSED RIVER, GEORGIA Randy’s shoal bass weighed a solid 7 pounds, four ounces, not far off the 8-pound, 12-ounce record. “She is still in the river somewhere because I put her back,” Randy said. He’ll look for her again next spring.

ROGER LEONARD

ABREOJOS, BAJA CALIFORNIA, MEXICO Roger was working right outside a popular surf break when he found this hybrid calico and 49 of its brothers in just two hours on Big Hammer swimbaits.

CHAD JULIE

BANNER MARSH, PEORIA, ILLINOIS “Not my biggest bass ever, but the most exciting due to micro gear,” Chad wrote of his first nice kayak bass, a fiver. A great way to break in a boat!

RANDALL BONDURANT DESTIN, FLORIDA

Ruby red! Randall hooked this monster snapper while drifting bait over a wreck during the GCKFA spring tournament. It measured nearly 32 inches. “When it made its first run I was hoping it was the tournament winning king but it just ended up being a bragging rights catch!” Randall said.
