THE term ‘construction kit’ can often be misconstrued to refer to a sample library suited for those new to the world of electronic music production. The chaps over at Audiotent are on a mission to convert nonbelievers and prove that it is actually a very intuitive way to purchase loops and samples for use in your own productions. While the nature of having a full track, broken down into pieces or stems, is undoubtedly a great way for newbies to understand how the parts fit together, to the seasoned studio buff it is a brilliant way to structure the sounds into a compiled format – not only can you demo the individual parts but there is a complete ‘track’


available to audition how the bass loop, for example, will sound underneath a rising synth pattern or over a teched-out beat. Ten kits await techno and tech producers, including basslines, melodic synth loops, progressions and effects for adding polish to your track. ‘Tech House Planet’ comes into its own when reviewing the attention to detail in how Audiotent have chosen to provide their content. Not only are 100 individual drum hits included, but all melodic loops have a corresponding midi file to allow full control of the inspiration on offer.
