MOAA Cruise My wife, Mary, and I participated in the [May 2011] MOAA-sponsored river cruise from Paris to the Nor- mandy beaches. As first-time cruisers, we were pleased with the opportunity to meet and cruise with MOAA mem- bers whose shared experiences and standards of behavior and demeanor made the entire experience a won- derful remembrance. The pre-cruise information from Avalon Waterways was timely, complete, and extremely helpful. The Avalon Waterways boat, MS Creativity, was absolutely out- standing, as was the cruise director, Tony Williamson. … The cuisine and ambience on the boat were remark- able; the visits to French villages a joy; and the tours of the Normandy beach- es and American Cemetery poignant and awe-inspiring. We would like to commend MOAA for sponsoring the cruise and encourage all MOAA members to consider participation in future MOAA cruises. —Col. Jack Downey, USAF-Ret. via email

I want to add my support to [retired Marine Corps Capt. Verle E. Burch’s comments] regarding the general wearing cammies when he awarded a bronze star to an Army veteran. I would go one step further and say that I think allowing off-duty mili- tary personnel to be off-base wearing cammies is inexcusable. —Lt. Cmdr. Carl Pitts, USN-Ret. via email
