Guy deBoer | GD In all of these state and fed- eral budget cutbacks, Keys Energy has just been awarded a very large grant of $770,000 about creating more clean energy. How will Keys En- ergy put this money into use?


Lynn Tejeda | LTWe are really excited to have this money flowing into Keys Energy and into Monroe County. It comes from the federal gov- ernment. It’s part of that American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. Te Feds actually gave all the states a certain amount of money, and then the states allocated funding for different projects.


One of them was Clean Energy here in Florida. We applied for our grant about a year ago. We finally got word in the fall, then all of the paper- work came through about two to three weeks ago that we were able to do some clean energy programs.


GDWhen we talk about developing clean en- ergy, what sort of projects will be implemented with this? LT One of the most important things you can do with clean energy is simply to reduce the amount of consumption that you do at your home.
