Dear Sisters, This is my last time to greet you from

our Ladies Auxiliary VFW Magazine. Next stop: National Convention! In San Antonio, we will celebrate the 2010-2011 United by Love for Our Veterans and Country year. You’ve done amazing things, Sisters! Hurry to register at www.ladiesauxvfw.org/html/events, as early registration ends July 15. You won’t want to miss the National President’s Luncheon, which is on Monday, Aug. 29, at 1 p.m. Purchase tickets today! See the tentative agenda on Page 12. Final membership fi gures were not in by publication time, but I know

that we worked hard toward our goals. This year may be at an end, but our organization continues to move forward. Strength in numbers is not a cliche; it’s the truth! Many of you may remember that we were a Bronze Sponsor

of the Bataan Memorial Death March earlier this year. Director of Communications & Publications Cara Day ran the race on our behalf and reports on her experience in New Mexico on Pages 4-6. We also recently announced the winners of several of our contests including the Continuing Education Scholarship Winners (Page 18), our National Advisory Committee hospital volunteer winner (Page 10) and our Junior Girls Scholarship Winner (Page 14). I hope each of these inspires you to volunteer, promote these contests or start a Junior Girls Unit! I am also very pleased to announce our partnership with USAA, a

premier fi nancial services company that has faithfully served the military community with excellence. Be watching for more information. There’s much more in this issue to get you ready for the 2011-2012

year. I’m just as excited about that as I was for this past year! Sisters, thank you for all you have done this year and all I know you will do in the future. We are United by Love for Our Veterans and Country!

Loyally, Cortina Barnes National President
