StudentNews MechE HostsAnnual Bennett Conference

EveryApril, the Department ofMechanical Engineering hosts the Bennett Conference, which showcases graduate students’ research through oral and poster presentations. This half-day event is open to anyMasters and Ph.D.MechE student with advisor approval, but participation in the Conference is required for M.S.-ProjectOption students. The 2009 Bennett Conference was held in

Scaife Hall,Room 125,on Friday,April 17. This year’s event featured 14 oral presentations and 13 posters, with topics ranging from water flow to robotics. Following typical conference style, students

Nearly 30MechE graduate students participated in the 2009 Bennett Conference, hosted by the Department inApril.

made 12-minute presentations and then answered audience questions for fiveminutes. A panel of judges, consisting of four to six facultymembers, then determined which students earned awards for their work. For “Best Presentation,”JohnThomas won first
