sensors and detectors near-ir photon counter

ID Quantique has introduced its id210 advanced system for single photon detection at telecom wavelengths (1310 and 1550nm). The device’s performance in high-speed gating at frequencies up to 100MHz (internal or external) surpasses that of existing detectors by ten times. Photons can be detected with probability up to 25 per cent at 1550nm, while maintaining low dark counts. Timing resolution as low as 250ps can also be achieved. The id210 provides adjustable delays,

adjustable gate duration of 1 to 20ns, and adjustable dead time up to 100µs. For applications requiring an asynchronous detection scheme, the detector can operate in free-running mode with detection probability

single- and multichannel lead salt ir detectors

Laser Components now distributes two new families of lead salt infrared detectors manufactured by Cal Sensors Inc (CSI), as well as a new digital drive board. The single channel detector (SCD) and

multichannel detector (MCD) products provide industry-leading sensitivity and quality for a variety of infrared sensing applications, while the digital drive board optimises detector performance. The SCD-13HV (single channel detector

– high value) PbS detectors are designed to meet requirements for high volume, cost- sensitive applications. The SCD-13HV range combines competitive price/performance with exceptional repeatability and product consistency. Applications for these sensors include fire safety and flame detection, and process and quality control. All SCD-13HV products support a glass window or lens configuration, available as a 1 x 1mm detector

in a TO-46 can, or as 2 x 2mm or 3 x 3mm detectors in TO-5 packages. The company’s new PbS and PbSe multi-channel detectors (MCDs) provide high sensitivity for detection of up to four distinct materials/gases across the 1-5µm wavelength range. The MCD product family provides

exceptional channel isolation (›99.5 per cent) in a compact TO-5 footprint. www.lasercomponents.com

of between 2.5 and 10 per cent. Thanks to a practical user interface, all parameters can be intuitively adjusted with direct access buttons. www.idquantique.com

Fibre Optics

Fibre-based power monitors, polarisers, and isolaters

Fiberlogix has introduced a range of passive components designed for high power lasers, including power monitors, polarisers, and isolators. The devices are suitable for wavelengths around 2µm. The company’s in-line power monitors can

be embedded into modular laser architectures to enable distributed power monitoring in all sections of a laser. The compact monitors can be interfaced with DSP in order to increase the reliability of high power systems and allow performance optimisation. The monitors are

designed on custom fibres with an extended power range (mW to kW) and loss of less than 0.1dB. The company’s polarisers are designed for materials processing applications, where using a polarised beam increases the efficiency of cutting and marking processes. The company’s in-line polarisers are designed for MOPA systems for seed/1st amplifier polarisation, and electronically controlled polarisers are also available. The company’s new isolators are suitable for powers up to 20W, providing protection of pump diodes and power combiners in high power laser applications. www.fiberlogix.com
