Are you ready to do more?
I am grateful to be part of a denomination that is already doing so much to reach North America and the world for Christ. Southern Baptists’ generous giving has allowed thousands of missionaries to take the gospel to those most in need and has helped establish thousands of new churches in the United States, Canada and beyond.
It’s my hope that you and your church are ready to do even more. NAMB’s new Send North America strategy makes it easier than ever for you and your church to be more personally involved in the mission to reach North America for Christ. If you are already supporting the Cooperative Program and the Annie Armstrong Easter Offering® for North American Missions, I want to say thank you. Your continued gifts through these offerings make the work of our missionaries possible.
Send North America will put you in direct contact with our missionaries who are planting churches in some of the most spiritually needy places in the United States and Canada. Some of our new churches are going into areas that have not had an evangelical church presence in years. Through Send North America, you will get to know the church planting missionary—his work, his family, his needs.
We’ll work to encourage our existing churches to enlist greater numbers of members to pray for church planters. You will also have opportunities to serve alongside our missionaries in short-term and long-term missions settings. Even brief visits or phone calls can be so encouraging to planters who are serving in difficult places. What a great opportunity for you and every member of your church to experience North American missions hands on. As you become more involved, we will keep you updated on the progress and activity of the missionaries and ministries your church is supporting.
As you read this issue of On Mission, think about where and how God wants to use you to engage people with the gospel and plant more churches. You can also visit our website—
www.namb.net—any time and click the “Mobilize Me” button to get started in this exciting journey. As this new emphasis grows, we’ll have stories and videos of how our missionaries and individuals and churches like yours are making a difference by spreading the gospel.
I am grateful that Southern Baptists have a passion for missions and a heart for seeing people come to Christ. I can’t wait to hear how God uses you! Thanks again for letting us serve you as you and your church take these new steps.
