Josh is a graduate of both Roger Williams University and the National Outdoor Leadership School’s semester program. In addition to teaching sailing and a range of paddlesports disciplines, Josh is the

LATEST VOLUNTEER EFFORT FOR PADDLESPORTS: In conjunction with CCPRC, Josh was the driving force behind the development of the ACA’s new Stand Up Paddleboard (SUP) education program. Countless hours were spent testing and refining the curriculum and then getting the appropriate approvals from the Safety Education and Instruction Council and the ACA Board of Directors. Now Josh is spearheading the effort to roll the program out nationwide. Initial courses have been taught in South Carolina, Texas and California. Additional courses are already scheduled for Virginia and Kentucky with the SUP Summit (www.americancanoe.org) bringing all facets of the SUP community together to discuss the future of SUP instruction.


AMERICAN CANOE ASSOCIATION 2011 Annual Membership Meeting


The ACA Annual Membership Meeting for 2011 will be held Saturday and Sunday, October 1–2, 2011, at the Galt House Hotel, 140 North Fourth St. Louisville, KY 40202. This meeting will be held in conjunction with the ACA’s National Paddlesports Conference.


The Annual Membership Meeting will convene each day at 8:30 a.m. Eastern Time.


Saturday’s meeting will continue (with breaks) through the ACA Annual Banquet Saturday evening. Sunday’s meeting will end around noon. Membership votes on important amendments to the ACA’s National Bylaws will be


held at the 2011 meeting. These amendments are needed to ensure that ACA Bylaws comply with New York state law (where the ACA was incorporated). Members will also be able to vote on candidates for the ACA Board of Directors at the meeting. Only members who attend the meeting will be able to vote on the bylaw amendments and the Board candidates. No mail-in voting will be conducted. For more information, visit www.americancanoe.org/
