Summersville Dam Entrance

gauley season Fall in love!

Thump. Thump. Thump. You look ahead and see a 10 ft. high wave crashing right towards you. You close your eyes and dig forward with your paddle, searching for the back of that monster wave, barely holding yourself in place. The boat pitches hard to the right and you feel it riding high on edge. You open your eyes just in time to see the rock right in front of you. Your heart beats in your head. Thump. Thump. Instinctively you move to the left as fast as you can, just in time to tap Pillow Rock with your paddle. You’ve read the t-shirt—now you know what getting high on the Pillow is all about—and it lasts for days.

There are few things that truly activate your senses and awaken your inner adventurer. The Gauley River experience does that to you. But why stop there? Fall is an amazing time to get out and play! Combine your rafting trip with other activities for a multi-sport adventure vacation that totally grabs your attention. You can horseback ride through blazing fall colors or rip it up on a mountain bike. Get shaky-kneed on BridgeWalk or zip on the canopy tour. Whatever adventuring you choose to do each day, great food and a comfortable place to lay your head at night are never far behind.
