onshore connection for round 3 offshore wind farm WSP and Senergy are working with a round 3 offshore wind developer to identify potential onshore connection routes for the proposed wind farm. as a result of the geographical spread of these land-based options, there are up to four marine cable options to connect to the grid. to meet the proposed project timescales, our environmental appraisal was a high level assessment of key planning and environmental constraints. it was undertaken with reference to relevant best practice, including the holford rules, and internal guidance by national grid electricity transmission plc and other transmission network Operators on routing of transmission lines.
Getting consent for europe’s 4th largest wind farm WSP prepared a transport assessment and abnormal loads strategy for the griffin wind farm, a 68 turbine, 204mv wind farm in highland Perthshire. WSP estimated the impact of construction traffic on the network and developed a range of measures to help mitigate the impact of traffic on the network, including methods to accommodate the movement of abnormal turbine loads to the site. the development went to Public inquiry, where WSP provided technical evidence. Scottish ministers consented the scheme, making it the 4th largest wind farm scheme in europe.
