renewing the electrical grid in scotland the Beauly-to-Denny 220km 400kv overhead transmission line is critical infrastructure, connecting renewable energy sources in the highlands to the population in central Scotland. WSP has been supporting this project for several years, providing key input into the planning process, following through to the current discharge and construction phase. Specifically WSP has provided the environmental statement, developed an access track construction methodology, conducted environmental assessments for proposed sub-stations, provided input into the control procedures handbook, undertaken transport analysis and provided construction environmental management services.
advising on future power station deployment WSP is providing support to aFc energy, the low cost fuel cell provider, as it prepares for full scale deployment of fuel cell power stations. Our advice has included investigations into legislative requirements; planning issues; engineering advice; and assistance with product assembly requirements and other manufacturing operations - including assistance with the production of component parts and final assembly operations. aFc energy’s development of a low cost alkaline fuel cell system will generate clean electricity from hydrogen at almost twice the efficiency of chP turbines.
