European natural gas demand, supply and pricing: cycles, seasons and the impact of
LNG price arbitrage Anouk Honoré (Oxford University Press, 57Woodstock Road, Oxford, OX2 6FA, UK. t: +44 (0)1865 311377; f: +44 (0)1865 310527; e:

This book aims to provide the reader with an in-depth analysis ofdemand, supply and pricing for the European gas markets. The rationale for the book stems from the fact that, while there is much material dealing with gas supply availability, there is very little publicly available research on European gas demand. It finds that the timing and the shape ofthe gas demand growth recovery in Europe remains uncer- tain, but there is some potential for additional demand, driven mostly by the con- struction ofnew gas-fired power plants. Gas demand is expected to increase by 50 bn cm or 0.6%/y on average by 2020, but with major differences between national markets, sectors ofconsumption and periods of recovery. The book also provides a methodology for looking at the evolution of European gas demand and supply. It extends the Oxford Institute for Energy Studies’ Natural Gas Programme’s regional gas studies, which have so far covered Asia and Commonwealth and Independent States countries, and will extend to the Middle East and North Africa.

post-combustion pathway, in which the CO2 contained in industrial flue gases is
extracted; the oxy-combustion pathway, in which combustion is performed in oxygen to obtain flue gases with high CO2
concentration; and the pre-combustion
pathway, in which carbon is extracted from the initial fuel to generate hydrogen. The book describes the technologies currently available and those under develop- ment. It is intended for everyone wanting to gain a better understanding of the mechanisms implemented in CO2
capture operations, as well as the technological and economic challenges involved.
Petroleum geology of Ireland David Naylor and Patrick Shannon (Dunedin Academic Press, Hudson House, 8 Albany Street, Edinburgh, EH1 3QB, UK. t: +44 (0)131 473 2397; f: +44 (0)1250 870920; e:

This book provides a comprehensive review ofthe petroleum geology ofIreland and its extensive continental shelf. The authors chart the 50-year history of petro- leum exploration in Ireland, from early drilling onshore to the present frontier exploration in the deepwater Atlantic basins. Future and potential petroleum prospects in the Irish offshore region are reviewed, and the gas storage potential of onshore and offshore reservoirs is examined. The structural framework and regional geological setting ofthe sedimentary basins is described in detail. The book contains comprehensive reference lists with each chapter as aids to oil industry geoscientists seeking to understanding Irish onshore and offshore geology and to academic researchers with an interest in marine and petroleum geology.
Carbon capture and storage (CCS) is recognised as being one ofthe pathways to reduce CO2
tured, while reviewing the technologies required. It presents three ofthe main pathways in which CO2
capture technologies are expected to be implemented: the
