ICICLE ‘UNDER THE ICE’ SHOGUN AUDIO

IT MIGHT NOT BE out until 25th April, but having had the promo on repeat on the office stereo we’re already shouting about the Icicle (aka Jeroen Snik) album. One of drum & bass’ hottest properties, it recalls Photek at his best, right down to including collaborations with old school house hero and owner of dance music’s

most famous voice, Robert Owens. Meanwhile the single Dreadnaught featuring SP:MC (out now), gives a taste of his more rewind friendly output. Cold as ice, and we’re willing to sacrifice to get our hands on a copy of the finished album and artwork.

SUBEENA DJWEEKLY PODCAST #30

MILAN-BORN, London-based Subeena is as difficult to pigeonhole as her podcast, which spans everyone from Bristolian bass-houser Julio Bashmore to Detroit electro legend DJ Stingray. While part of the bass scene, and inspired by the sound of early dubstep, the DJ, singer and producer’s OPIT label is far more eclectic and

wide-reaching, drawing fans such as Surgeon; check her next EP, out at the end of March, which ranges from the acid bite of ‘End of Reason’ to the electronic soul of ‘Wrong for Me’ and you’ll get an idea of a unique talent that’s still developing.
