WE HAVE TO ADMIT to sleeping on La Fleur’s ‘Flowerhead’ when it launched her vinyl-only Power Planet label last year. So the moment we heard it was re-emerging, this time on the brand-new What People Play label, with a Spencer Parker remix stretching the original’s infectious Roulé-goes-deep- house groove of warm looped pianos, bass and cut-up vocals into a plus 10 minute tech epic, we were overjoyed to get hold of a digital copy. Until recently hosting her own ‘P3 Dans’ show on Swedish national radio, the initial


release was self-pressed and distributed, 300 copies flying out of the shops she’d often hand delivered them to, another two hundred more pressed to take advantage of the demand. With a second release coming at the end of May from Jesper Ryom, including a La Fleur remix, and her own second EP planned afterward, the initial hard work has paid off with the DIY distribution now taken over by Word and Sound.
