COLEMAN Exponent Xpedition

It makes sense that Coleman, maker of the car camper’s classic two-burner, would invent the first double-burner for backcountry use. For this, Coleman aban- doned the hefty green suitcase look in favour of a svelte, aluminum alloy frame that runs off a single, remote fuel canis- ter. Like its big brother, the Xpedition can burn hot like a blast furnace or simmer down to a candle flame with the twist of a knob. Rapid-boil water at 10,000 BTUs and make chocolate fondue at the same time with two independently adjustable burners. Coleman’s proprietary Power- max fuel canisters are harder to come by than generic propane or butane cartridg- es. The upside is that they’re crushable with Coleman’s Green Key tool (included) and accepted at recycling facilities. —CM
