Big plans for SeaWorld Parks Grand Reef at Discovery Cove

SeaWorld Parks & Entertainment will unveil 10 new attractions across the US this season. Opening at the three SeaWorld parks in Orlando (Florida), San Diego (California) and San Antonio (Texas) is a new killer whale show called One Ocean. At the core of the show is the unifying theme that both animals and humans are part of one world. Rather than sharing the water with the whales, however, the human performers will appear on platforms, following the death of a trainer last year at SeaWorld Orlando.

In addition to One Ocean, SeaWorld San Diego this summer also debuts Turtle Reef, allowing guests an up-close look at 60 threatened or endangered sea turtles plus thousands of tropical fish, plus a themed Huss Airboat ride called Riptide Rescue. SeaWorld San Antonio will open Sesame Street Bay of Play, featuring a themed Carousel, Big Bird’s Spinning Reef (Ferris wheel), Elmo’s Dolphin Dive (vertical drop ride), Abby Cadabby’s Rocking Wave (Rockin’ Tug) and Little Bird’s Splash (water play area). Musical performances will be offered by Elmo, Abby Caddaby, Zoe and the Cookie Monster, who will also be available for photo opportunities together with other Sesame Street characters. In June, Orlando's Discovery Cove opens The Grand Reef, offering multiple levels of exploration, from shallow waters to deeper swimming

and snorkelling opportunities. Guests can also take part in SeaVenture, an underwater walking tour using dive helmets. At Sesame Place, Langhorne, Pennsylvania, the Neighborhood Street

Party parade will allow guests to experience an energetic parade with all their Sesame Street friends. The park’s newest ride, Elmo’s Cloud Chaser by Zamperla, invites families to join Elmo up into the sky where the clouds are as close as their imagination. Previously featured in Park World, Cheetah Hunt is a multiple launch coaster from IntaRide opening at Busch Gardens Tampa Bay, while the new look Oktoberfest area at Busch Gardens Williamsburg, Virginia, will featurr the Mäch Tower from Moser Rides, plus Vanish Point, a double trapdoor waterslide at the neighbouring Water Country USA waterpark (see “More Water” page 34).
