Diamond Brand

Customer in the Community: Becca Carter

Diamond Brand is proud to have Becca Carter as a regular customer. She’s always looking for a good deal on paddling and hiking items, and we know she’s putting them to good use. Her resume includes two years in The Gambia, West Africa, serving as a Peace Corps Volunteer and ten years of teaching school. The Waynesville resident and regular whitewater paddler also helps others in the water. After a bad concussion and her own experience with kayaking as therapeutic recreation, Becca felt it was very important to offer it to veterans. With the help of Steve Heiselman, the Asheville Chapter of Team River Runner (TRR) was founded in April 2010. Becca currently serves as the Program Coordinator. TRR was established in 2004 by kayakers in the Washington, D.C., area to help active duty military personnel wounded in Iraq and Afghanistan who were recovering at Walter Reed Army Medical Center. The Asheville chapter is one of two in North Carolina; the other is based in Raleigh.
