featuring local North Park artist Thia Nevius. The exhibit will be on display until Feb. 12 and can be seen Mon- day through Thursday 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., Friday noon to 5 p.m. and Sat- urday and Sunday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. A longtime artist and art teach-

er, Nevius described the pieces that she selected for the show as repre- senting “variety and process.” “The word retrospective means

‘directed to the past,’ so the work shown is a sampling of the work I have done in the past, as well as a few current pieces,” Nevius said. Nevius has dabbled in numer-

ous art forms including watercolor, oils and acrylics and monotype— done with an etching press. In her art statement, Nevus described her need to achieve “a sense of space and movement without any recog- nizable objects.” She explained that the figures will show themselves to the viewers as she tries to find a happy medium between balance and “the joy of abandonment.” For more information visit sdad- sdai.org or thiaartist.com.
