MACEO PLEX ‘LIFE INDEX’ (CROSSTOWN REBELS)
MACEO PLEX AKA Eric Estornel’s ‘Life Index’ (out 7th Feb) marks the first of a barrage of 2011 album releases from Crosstown Rebels. A departure from his tougher productions as Maetrik, lead single ‘Vibe Your Love’ firmly brought the funk with Peter King’s vocal version covering classic Stevie Wonder’s classic vocal.
In Eric’s own words, “I wanted it to be very versatile with varied moods. Sexy futuristic music spread over 12 totally different tracks. Kind of like a 12 page excerpt out of a Kama Sutra book but set to beats!“ Somewhere out there, we’re imagining a very different extended version of the video now…
ALEX NIGGEMANN DJWEEKLY PODCAST #19
AN EX-STUDENT of classical piano, quite handy given a resurgence of bashing the old ivories, Alex Niggemann picked up his fi rst pair of decks at the turn of the millennium. Originally producing techno in Dusseldorf, he moved to Berlin in 2005, studying audio engineering, working with DJ T and laying the groundwork for
his current popularity. Releasing for Get Physical! gigs followed all over Germany, while tracks for the likes of 8bit and his own Soulfooled label, launched last year, laid the groundwork for a 2010 that saw him play around Europe and Ibiza, with Brazil, America and Asia now following.
