FIRSTQUARTER
WASHINGTON, 13:41 Graham Gano kicks a 48-yard field goal into the wind.
WASHINGTON, 9:07 Fred Davis catches a one-yard TD pass from Rex Grossman. Thanks to Brandon Banks’s 32-yard kickoff
return and a 15-yard Jacksonville penalty, the Redskins started on the Jaguars 44-yard line. Five plays and one first down later, Graham Gano trotted out to kick a 48-yard field goal that gave Washington a 3-0 lead. On the Jaguars’ ensuing possession, cornerback
Carlos Rogers intercepted a David Garrard pass and returned it 38 yards to the Jacksonville 18-yard line. The Redskins reached the 1-yard line, and after tight end Chris Cooley dropped a sure touchdown, fellow tight end Fred Davis had no problem handling his, giving the Redskins a 10-0 lead. It was Rex Grossman’s fifth touchdown pass of the season. Featuring a rag-tag defensive lineup that
included several reserves, the Redskins held their own in the first quarter. The Jaguars didn’t cross midfield until the tail end of the quarter. Jacksonville place kicker Josh Scobee missed a 44- yard field goal, and the 10-point margin remained.

JACKSONVILLE, 8:18 Mike Thomas catches a 19-yard touchdown pass from Garrard. The Jaguars outgained the Redskins by a nearly
two to one margin, butWashington clung to a 10-7 lead at the half. On their first possession of the second quarter,
the Jaguars put together a 10-play, 79-yard drive, capped by Garrard’s 19-yard touchdown pass to Mike Thomas. The half ended with Jeremy Jarmon and Andre
Carter sacking Garrard. The ball popped loose and rolled into the end zone, but after a review, the second of the half to go the Jaguars’ way, officials ruled that Garrard was down before he lost possession. The first-half numbers for the Redskins weren’t
pretty. Jacksonville outgained the Redskins 188 yards to 108. Grossman was 8 of 20 passing for 80 yards, one touchdown and one interception. Running back Ryan Torain had 28 yards on seven carries and SantanaMoss had two catches for 51 yards.

10:42 THIRDQUARTER
JACKSONVILLE, 4:57 Josh Scobee kicks a 34-yard field goal to cap a 62-yard drive.
The Redskins’ offense struggled to find momentum in the third quarter, and the Jaguars fought back to send the game into the final quarter tied at 10. Scobee’s 34-yard field goal with 4:57 remaining
tied the game. On the drive, the Jaguars made it no closer than theWashington 16-yard line. Garrard hit Thomas with a 36-yard pass and JasonHill with a 37-yarder as the offense started to come alive. The Redskins’ offense, meantime, struggled to
find a rhythm. After failing to convert their first eight third-down attempts, the Redskins succeeded on a pair on their final drive of the quarter. Grossman twice connected withMoss, and Washington reached the red zone for the third time. The Redskins also turned more to their running
game. Torain, who had seven carries in the first half, had six in the third quarter, for 25 yards.
FOURTHQUARTER&OVERTIME
WASHINGTON, 12:07 4TH Torain’s one-yard run caps a 14-play drive that took 7:50.
JACKSONVILLE, 2:44 4TH Garrard’s 20-yard run allows the Jaguars to tie the game.
WASHINGTON, 12:13 OT Gano kicks the winning field goal from 31 yards. Gano’s field goal in overtime snapped the
Redskins’ four-game losing streak. On Jacksonville’s first possession in overtime,
Washington sent pressure at Garrard, who forced a bad pass to the right side.Washington safety Kevin Barnes stepped in front of tight endMarcedes Lewis to make the interception, and Grossman and the offense took over on the Jaguars 16-yard line. Early in the fourth quarter, Redskins Coach
Mike Shanahan made a gutsy call to go for a touchdown on fourth and goal, and it paid off. Torain leaped into the end zone less than three minutes into the quarter to give the Redskins a 17-10 lead. But Garrard scored on a quarterback draw
from 20 yards out with 2:44 to play. The Redskins fizzled on their last drive of regulation.
