Snap Dragon has added an extra degree of watertightness to its skirts which were al- ready as effective as a duck’s sphincter. New for 2006, the Lip-lock has an extra flange of neoprene that extends as a flap out from un- derneath the shock cord rand. This design is popular in Europe, where it is heralded as being better at sealing small or oddly shaped cockpits. On the river, we found the Lip-lock to be noticeably dryer than a conventional skirt, but also more difficult to stretch over the cock- pit rim. In order to benefit from the design you have to ensure the neoprene flap isn’t folded or pinched between the rand and the coam- ing. Integrated implosion bars are available as an option. —CM
