Fuel Efficiency, Reduced Emissions

New Engine Option Offers Increased

In the Vermeer tradition of providing customers with the best equipment choices to match job requirements, two engine options are now available for the BC1000XL brush chipper:

• A clean-burning 49-hp (36.5 kW) Caterpillar C2.2L Tier 4a diesel • An 85-hp (63.4 kW) Cummins B3.3 Tier 3 turbo-diesel

Both engines have the power to efficiently process material up to 12 inches (30.5 cm) in diameter.

“The Vermeer® BC1000XL brush chipper has had an 85-hp (63.4 kW)

engine in the BC1000XL for a number of years,” says Todd Roorda, a Vermeer environmental solutions specialist. “By recently adding the Cat Tier 4a engine option, we’ve selected a lower horsepower engine that is 49 hp (36.5 kW) more fuel-efficient and produces lower emis- sions, but has the power demanded by our customers.”

“When considering new engine options, Vermeer thoroughly evaluates multiple engines before putting a product in the field,” says Roorda. “Engines from different manufacturers are evaluated so we can put the right engine in the right machine, thereby meeting customer needs.”
