Life is But A B&B on the Sea I
It is that magic time of day, the ephemeral moment between daylight and darkness. The blue hour is best enjoyed while relaxing on the deck of a yacht. Enjoy a sip of wine as the lights of Charleston twinkle across the harbor. Dolphins put on a show while freighters slip silently into the distance. Light years away, traffic flows by on the majestic Arthur Ravenel Bridge. The blue hour is fleeting, but the joy of being on the water is not. For some, it lasts a lifetime.
Captain Bob Rosene and his sib-
lings grew up around boats, which instilled a need to work and play on the
BY BARBARA PATRICK water.
Now, after many years in the corpo- rate world, he and his wife, Dorothy, are living their dream. The Rosenes and a close friend who goes back to his college days at Hillsdale College and Oxford University have joined forces to bring a “B & B on the Sea” to Charleston.
Rosene searched for nearly a year for a yacht that was in excellent con- dition, as well as clean, safe, beauti- ful and spacious, before he found it on Lake Erie. Bringing it back to its present berth at the Charleston Harbor Resort at Patriots Point has been a labor of love. A three-week voyage, starting in the Great Lakes and including passage through the Erie Canal and stops in Manhattan, Virginia Beach, the Outer Banks and Wrightsville Beach, provided Rosene
