Red24’s Weaver says progress in location-based services is also being held back by the reliability of software of different mobile devices as well as the fact that not all individuals will have advanced phones. “There is also the big brother effect and individuals do not want to feel they are being watched so companies would have to provide some sort of option,” he adds. International SOS and Control Risk have made progress in this arena, however, jointly unveiling a mobile version of TravelTracker earlier this year. Aimed primarily at security managers, it enables them to locate and contact globally- mobile employees from any one of more than 5,000 different mobile devices.
