What is LOGO? Logo is the name given to a family of programming
languages all designed to support constructive learning (constructivism). The idea behind logo is to use commands similar to real words to make things happen. For example, the basic logo commands are forward and backward movements and left or right turns.
Constructivism views knowledge as being created by learners in their own minds through interaction with other people and the world around them. This theory is most closely associated with Jean Piaget, the Swiss psychologist, who spent decades studying and documenting the learning process of young children.
The creator of logo, Seymour Papert, worked with Piaget in Geneva before co-founding the MIT Artificial Intelligence lab.
